ways to save your current tumblr posts
- use the wayback machine! you do have to archive each page of your blog individually but once you do all the content, including media, will be saved exactly as it was at the moment you archived it.
- wordpress allows you to directly import whole tumblr blogs, and if i recall correctly it’s something both dreamwidth and pillowfort have said they are working on.
- tumblthree is a great tool with a ton of functions including downloading whole blogs, only posts tagged with a certain tag, all the posts you’ve liked, etc. etc. along with being able to download every type of media hosted on tumblr (pictures, videos, audio, everything). it also has a proper GUI so no computer knowledge required beyond downloading and running programs!
- if you have some knowledge of computers you can try this github solution which uses a python script to download your whole blog to your computer. even if you don’t know anything about programming or the command line they give a very good beginners tutorial on how to use it so you should still give it a shot!
- if that’s still a little daunting you can try soarcodes’ tumblr post that also has a decent tutorial!
- here’s another python script that should allow you to archive all the images from your blog or your likes, though it requires some knowledge of python and the command line or very very good google skills.
some notes
edit: please stop commenting on this post to self-promote your porn accounts on other sites. those replies / reblogs will be deleted or hidden.
please note that every site on this list will have pros and cons, and i haven’t listed them here since this post would be a mile long otherwise. please do your research before moving completely over to another site in case they have policies you disagree with.
also, because I see a lot of misinformed people ranting about this: deviantart does not own the art you post. some years ago hot topic stole a ton of art from DA and sold it on merchandise and people assumed that DA gave them permission to do it despite there being literally zero evidence for that claim. DA explictly states in their TOS that you retain copyright and sole license of the art you post.
and related, mastodon does not allow or condone CP or pedophilia. the people spreading this info are misinformed about what mastodon is. it is not an exact twitter clone; anyone anywhere can host a mastodon instance using their personal computer as a server, which means mastodon as a company can’t do jack shit to moderate them. what they DO is permanently block all users from every other instance from viewing or interacting with that instance, and add that instance to a publicly viewable list along with the reason for the block. please give their post about anti-abuse measures a read before making snap judgements.

How to save your content!
Help Center Your account Blog management
Export your blog
You can export all of the content you’ve created for your blog, and we’ll package it up into a convenient ZIP file for you to download.
To start the process, go to your account settings on the web:
Click “Settings” under the account menu at the top of the dashboard (the person silhouette).
Select the blog you’d like to export on the right side of the page.
Scroll down to the “Export” section and click the “Export [blog name]” button.
You’ll see a message indicating that your backup is processing.
When your blog’s content is finished collecting, the processing message will be replaced with a “Download backup” button. Click this button to download a ZIP file of your blog’s exported contents.
If you want to export the contents of more than one of your blogs, you’ll need to initiate this process separately for each blog.
Your blog export may include:
A Posts folder, with an HTML file for each post (this includes reblogs, drafts, private posts, flagged posts, and any other hidden posts).
A Media folder, with the media from your posts, plus any media you’ve uploaded (like in messaging). These files will be in the format you uploaded them in (JPG, GIF, PNG, MP4, and so on).
A representation of your blog’s messaging conversations, in XML format.
A representation of your blog’s posts, also in XML format.
Note that your backup may take some time to process. Check back on your blog’s settings page periodically to see if it has completed.
Tumblr has updated their terms of service and will be banning all adult blogs starting December 17. That means this blog and all associated blogs will be disabled and removed from public access soon.

Obviously, I’m quite disappointed by this and the resulting loss of over 6 years of work building and maintaining this blog and its community. I will try to set up a mirror of the Anal Only Lifestyle blog in the coming weeks, but I expect that the porn blogs may be gone for good just due to the costs of hosting large amounts of image/video content.
How Can I Stay Connected to the Anal Only Lifestyle Community?
Fortunately, we’re far more than just these blogs! Our community is centralized at the Anal Only Lifestyle Forum and Discord server. Please join and bookmark these links in order to stay connected with this community and follow our next steps as we continue to build and grow the anal only community. In addition to discussion and realtime chat, the Discord server also has porn sharing sections.
You can also find us on Twitter and Reddit.
What Can I Do About My Own Blog?
Tumblr lets you back up and download your blog. Go to your Blog Settings page for the blog in question, scroll to the bottom, click the Export button at the bottom, and wait for an email that notifies you it’s ready to be downloaded. If it’s a big blog, it might be a very large file—this blog was 25 GB!
Alternatives to Tumblr
This list will be updated as I find more alternatives. Please feel free to share any others with me.
This is an obvious alternative, and while it’s not the same as Tumblr, it has some similarities and can reach a wide audience. It does not have a built-in posting queue, though some third party tools may support that.
If you have a community, setting up a subreddit is an easy way to establish a public forum for it. Individual users can post content to their profile pages as well, though it lacks advanced features like a queue.- Fetlife
A community for various adult/fetish topics and subcommunities. More of a Facebook-of-kink than a porn sharing platform.- Discord
This is a realtime chat platform that allows you to set up your own server with different channels, with web, desktop, and mobile app support. Another great option for establishing a central community location. Allows the sharing of media as well as all sorts of other options.- bdsmlr
This is a Tumblr clone explicitly created for adult content. It seems to still be in the early stages and is a bit clunky still, but has potential. It also lacks in users, currently, but I’m sure that will change before long!- pillowfort.io
This is another Tumblr-like service in early development. At the time of this post it is offline and undergoing security updates, but keep checking in to see how it progresses.- Sharesome
An adult platform for posting and sharing content. This has some Tumblr-like features, allowing the reposting of content, addition of your own comments and captions, and curation of custom topics. Doesn’t appear to support queueing.- Swarmr
A Tumblr clone that allows NSFW content and supports multiple blogs per account. There aren’t a great deal of options yet, and it doesn’t seem to have much content, but that could change quickly if people join.- Humblr
A Mastodon instance for porn sharing.
- Minds
A blockchain/crypto-based platform that allows posting and tagging adult content. Seems to have issues with searching adult tags, however, and doesn’t have a queue.- Your own self-hosted website
This is one of the safest options, though lacks the surrounding community to help with growth that a service like Tumblr has, so you’ll need to have somewhat of an established community already to migrate to your own platform, but it can be a great option to create a central hub for your followers and community members to base out of.Reblogging for the Tumblr alternatives.

REBLOG IF YOU’RE A NSFW BLOG
We all have seen the Tumblr communicate about forbidding nsfw blogs or those which have “adult” posts.
They think it won’t cause them any harm, but we are a really big part of the community. Let’s act and tell the staff that tumblr will slowly die after taking this decision. Follow these steps:
- First of all, REBLOG THIS POST, so any NSFW blog can post and see it.
- Give tumblr the worst mark at the App Store or Play Store
- Write a negative comment about how they’re banning accounts and censoring the freedom of expression.
- Purpose as a comment below a new site to move as a NSFW community.
If you do this before the 17 of December, we can change this decision. Let’s make the staff hear us. Make tumblr great again, a free place for free minds and free content!!
Personally, I enjoyed every single moment here at tumblr, and I appreciate everyone of my followers and blogs that I follow. If they delete my account… It was a pleasure to know you all. But we can still change this!!!
Regards!
